Darla Hoffmann

A Certified Sommelier and recipient of the Walter Clore Scholarship, (an award earned by the highest scorer for a Level 2 Court of Master Sommeliers Exam) Darla S. Hoffmann is the owner of About Wine, a wine education and marketing company in Arizona. Her journey in wine began in the early 1990s; she now develops curriculum, facilitates wine classes, conducts tasting events, and writes about the world of wine. Her work has been published in the AZ Food and Wine Magazine under the Somm Insider section, Wine, Wit and Wisdom—The Official Blog of The Society of Wine Educators, City Sun Times and MyNewsMesa. Hoffmann is also a Certified Specialist of Wine, Certified Beer Server, member of GuildSomm, and a member of the Wine Century Club. Her background in the beverage industry runs the full gamut of distribution, sales, and service.

Travel, both nationally and internationally, has had a significant impact on her career, as she has worked symposiums, written blogs, and worked under the guidance of vineyard managers and winemakers.

She spent some time working in the tasting room at LDV Winery in Scottsdale and quickly gained an appreciation for the exciting happenings in the state. VinVillageRadio, based in San Diego, featured her on a podcast to discuss the evolution of the wine scene in Arizona.
