Cody Burkett, CSW

Cody Burkett, CSW, also known as the Arizona Wine Monk, has been involved in the Arizona wine industry since 2013. A former seminarian, Burkett realized he had no business studying to become an Eastern Orthodox Priest and committed to his other love: wine. His day job is working in tasting rooms for Passion Cellars, Salvatore Vineyards, and Cabal Cellars in Jerome. His true passion, however, is reviewing and critiquing Arizona wines.

Burkett’s reviews and photographs have been published at azwinemonk.com and in The Noise, a local arts and news publication. He is the creator of wine podcasts, including The Wine Monk and Make America Grape Again. His work has been reviewed by Phoenix New Times and Fangirl Nation, and he has appeared on the podcasts The Eisenstein Effect and Tap That AZ.

Burkett, a certified specialist of wine, believes Arizona produces some of the best wines on earth. He can be found most evenings with a glass of wine watching magnificent views of the Verde Valley from his home in Jerome.
